The Asian Carriers Conference (ACC) 2025, hosted by PLDT Global from Sept. 15 to 19, zeroed in on the technologies set to transform the telecom sector: from artificial intelligence (AI) and satellite broadband to advanced cybersecurity frameworks.
At the roundtable forum “Beyond the Pipe: Data, Trust & Innovation in the Evolving Mobile Ecosystem,” industry leaders emphasized that innovation in telecom now extends beyond raw bandwidth to how networks can be made smarter, more secure, and more responsive to user needs.

Key discussions spotlighted emerging use cases shaping the future of connectivity:
- AI-Driven Network Resilience: Carriers are deploying AI and large language models (LLMs) for predictive maintenance and real-time traffic optimization, minimizing downtime and ensuring low-latency services for mission-critical applications such as telemedicine and financial transactions.
- AI-Powered Customer Service: Telecom operators are piloting conversational AI systems that deliver personalized customer support while embedding privacy safeguards, allowing companies to enhance user experience without compromising data security.
- Satellite Internet for Last-Mile Connectivity: With growing interest in low-earth orbit (LEO) satellite systems, providers see satellite broadband as a key solution for reaching rural and underserved regions, complementing terrestrial fiber rollouts.
- Advanced Cybersecurity and Anti-Fraud Tools: Industry players are prioritizing AI-enhanced threat detection, sender identity verification, and anti-phishing protocols to reduce spam, protect digital identities, and reinforce enterprise confidence in mobile platforms.
- Cross-Border Digital Services: Participants noted the rising demand for seamless digital payments, roaming solutions, and data portability across ASEAN markets, with infrastructure upgrades aimed at supporting regional integration.
Arvin Siena, vice president for network planning and engineering at PLDT Group, acknowledged the dual challenge of competition and innovation: “While competition may affect our margins, it will also increase market potential and traffic, allowing us to refine our infrastructure.”
Meanwhile, Eric Santiago, PLDT Group’s network head, underscored the importance of execution: “The effectiveness of these rules in driving innovation and benefiting all players in the market will be determined by their implementation.”
By framing AI, resilience, and next-generation infrastructure as the cornerstones of telecom’s future, ACC 2025 positioned the Philippines as a proving ground for innovations that could influence digital ecosystems across Asia.
