The report also highlighted the transformative shift in the broadband market:

  • Fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) now serves over 80% of Filipino households, up from less than half in 2020.
  • PLDT, the incumbent operator, remains the market leader with 42% share and the largest footprint at 18.5 million homes passed. Its expansion includes prepaid fiber offerings and connectivity projects for remote areas.
  • Converge has grown its footprint from 6 million homes in 2020 to more than 16 million, holding nearly 30% market share. It has also partnered with Sky and Starlink to broaden fiber and satellite access.
  • Globe, with 20% share, continues to expand fiber while aggressively promoting GFiber Prepaid and 5G FWA services.
  • DITO, the newest entrant, is betting heavily on 5G FWA, aiming to grow from its 250,000 current users to 2 million by 2026.

Industry Outlook

While the “big three” — PLDT, Converge, and Globe — control over 90% of the market, regional operators such as Sky remain significant players, holding a 3.2% share.

According to Opensignal, the competition between fiber and next-generation fixed wireless will continue to shape connectivity in the Philippines, as ISPs fight for both premium and budget-conscious segments through innovations such as prepaid fiber plans and expanded satellite partnerships.
