Shopee and Meta have announced a new partnership that allows users to discover and buy Shopee products directly while browsing on Facebook. The goal is to streamline shopping by connecting social content with online purchasing in one flow.
The collaboration introduces tools for content creators and small businesses. For creators, a new dashboard called Facebook Affiliate Partnerships lets them link their Shopee and Facebook accounts. Once linked, they can tag Shopee products in posts and Reels.
Viewers can tap the tag and check out through Shopee. Shopee reports that affiliates created over 100 million video posts in 2024, triple the output in 2023. This feature is available in the Philippines, Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Brazil, and Taiwan.
The partnership also adds a new beta feature for Facebook Live. Brands can use Collaborative Ads to display items from their Shopee catalog during livestreams. Viewers can click the products and complete the purchase via Shopee. The experience is similar to livestream shopping features already seen on TikTok Shop.
This upgrade is currently in pilot rollout in the Philippines, Indonesia, Thailand, and Vietnam, with plans to expand to more regions. The move comes as Shopee and Meta aim to increase social commerce engagement and offer simpler affiliate and shopping tools for sellers and creators.
There’s also more updates expected to arrive as the feature expands to additional markets. We’ll update readers if anything new comes up.
