Samsung PH debuts new Sound Towers to rival JBL, Sony in party speaker market

Korean tech giant Samsung Electronics has expanded its audio portfolio in the Philippines with the launch of its new Sound Towers — the MX-ST40F and MX-ST50F — positioning the devices against other players like JBL’s PartyBox series and Sony’s X-Series in the growing portable party speaker segment.

Designed for immersive, high-power sound, the new Sound Towers aim to transform any space into a party-ready environment. Both models combine robust acoustics, intelligent sound control, and portability to cater to a wide range of users — from casual listeners to aspiring DJs.

The MX-ST40F features built-in DJ sound effects and samplers, letting users remix tracks for up to 12 hours of playback. Meanwhile, the premium MX-ST50F adds built-in wheels, a telescopic handle, and customizable bass and lighting modes, offering up to 18 hours of battery life for longer events.

Competing directly with JBL’s PartyBox 310 and 710, Samsung’s Sound Towers offer similar high-wattage output and karaoke-ready inputs but emphasize broader smart integration.

Both models allow microphone and guitar connections and can be wirelessly linked to up to ten units through Group Play to create an expansive sound field.

The companion Sound Tower app adds user control through smartphones, enabling customization of lighting effects, Karaoke Mode (which removes vocals from tracks), and other interactive features — a capability comparable to JBL’s PartyBox app but with Samsung’s ecosystem integration.

Chris Almazan, head of AV business for Samsung Philippines, said the Sound Towers were designed “to deliver powerful, punchy sounds to elevate the experience of making memories with music.” He added that Samsung aims to “transform any setting into the perfect space for sharing and enjoying music.”

The MX-ST50F

The MX-ST40F is priced at P 18,999, while the MX-ST50F retails for P28,999. Both are available through the Samsung Online Store and authorized dealers. Online shoppers can enjoy discounts of up to P2,117 and receive a free microphone for purchases made until December 31, 2025.
